Sock Bunnies

Regardless of content, playing with wrapping paper and boxes is always fun.

Both bunnies did eventually make it to a concert together. In the interests of a broad education, this time they saw Ben Kweller.

The same evening, Halloween night, we went to see Church of Misery and Sourvein at Camden Underworld. Corby stood on the front of the stage throughout. Despite the response earlier in the day, here nobody even blinked!

After these adventures, Corby, a white bunny, is beginning to look like a grey bunny.

To make up for it, I brought him everywhere on a trip to London. Here he is pictured after going down the Test siteslide installation at the Tate Modern! Considering that they were adults going on a slide, those nearby judged us a surprising amount. My friend Ravi looked on in gentle amusement while I took the photos, before being scared by his own descent.

For the past couple of weeks, though Corby has been involved in my leisure activities, they haven’t presented many photo opportunities. This week, I had intended to bring him to see Hardcore Superstar in concert. I was shocked to open my bag to discover that I had forgotten him! Miia attended, and enjoyed dancing on the stage.

Today, back in Manchester, we took Corby and Miia to the final day of the fire garden at Platt Fields, Fallowfield. Though still large metal frames, the sculptures were quite different to expected: as the event was advertised as lasting a number of hours, I anticipated the use of gas burners or something similarly capable of being regulated. In fact, the flames were burning ceramic containers of paraffin, which lasted for the time due to their volume.

During the week, I live and work outside Manchester. Corby travelled with me.

In the evening following their adoption, we took the bunnies out for a meal at a Chinese buffet. The event was enjoyable and it was fun to involve the bunnies in this, though I was a little concerned that Corby would become covered in sweet and sour sauce! Though young bunnies, Corby and Miia correctly surmised that the food had been cooked using burnt oil, and that we would not be dining there again.

Adopting Corby was a pleasant surprise. My girlfriend and I went to the Chinese Arts Centre without knowing about Jess’ residency. After looking round and speaking to her for a while, Jess invited us to each adopt a bunny, with the view that it would be interesting for them to be siblings, and to have updates on activities we do together and alone. My girlfriend’s bunny is Miia.

After changing ISP, I am now back online. I have been taking photographs of my activities with Corby, and over the next few days will post them, backdated to the time at which they were taken.
