Germany

Snowy and I are currently in Germany, this trip was impulse decision. it led me to be stood on the side of the highway in Dacau.A friend and I where hitching to Berlin We took the train out of Munich to to the north, which took us to the very place.Although I decided to not go into the camp I must admit it was haunting to be stood on the side of the road in a village where members of my family had died.
This was not the story I intended to write, 3 years ago when I was living in Romania my friend and I sat and drank a botttle of wine. she absentmindly finger knit me a tiny tiny bracslet, it has clung determinatly to my wrist all this time.
oddly one night in Iasi I discovered it had disapeared, so it seems it was not me, or snowy that was looking for something in Iasi. but a small peice of string was looking for home.

Don’t Loose Sight

All though Snowy is part of my family now, i don’t want her to loose sight of who she is and help her explore her questions.

I wanted Snowy to know that alot of people are interested in culture and family history adopted or no. We are currently in hungry, which is the birth place of my mobile, so there are 3 of us on this history quest now. in two days we are going over to romania back to a place i lived briely a few years ago in seach of my own family history.

During this time I reastablished contact with alot of my fathers family whom where also curious about what there was to be learned about a forgottten homeland. The family debated the family name and all though it was decided that in fact donenfield (the name I was always told.) was the right name in the end. Still it was interesting to see how much had been forgotten and confused.
